Privacy Policy

Effective October 20, 2026

The short version: we do not run ads, we do not sell your data, and we do not track you across other apps. We do measure how the app itself is used — which screens people reach, which steps they finish, which features they use — and that measurement never includes a word of what you write. What you write is stored in your account so the app can show it back to you, and the relevant parts are sent to our AI provider when a letter is written for you. If you choose to listen to a letter, its text goes to our voice provider to be read aloud. Those are the only times your words go anywhere else. You can delete everything, permanently, from inside the app. The rest of this policy explains that in detail.

Who we are

Future Self is operated by Flowriz LLC, a California limited liability company. We are the controller of the personal data described here.

Contact: contact@meetfutureself.ai.

What we collect

Account details — your first name, the email address attached to the Apple or Google account you sign in with, a unique account identifier, and your age if you choose to give it.

Your answers — everything you enter during onboarding: what you want to change, how you want to be spoken to, the finish line you pick, the vision you write, and the commitment you sign.

Your practice — the habits you create, when you complete them, your daily check-ins including mood and any reflection you write, and the letters generated for you.

Notifications — so your future self can check in when you have been away from your practice, we store a push notification token for your device, the app version it runs and your time zone, and whether you have turned on Offers and news. We keep a record of each notification we send you, whether it was delivered, whether you opened it, and whether you subscribed afterwards, so we can tell which ones help and send fewer of the ones that do not. Turn check-ins off in Settings and none are sent; sign out and the token is removed from your account.

Letter feedback — when we ask whether a letter spoke to you, your answer, any reasons you choose, and anything you write in reply. We use it to make the letters better. Our usage measurement records the answer and reasons, never what you write.

Subscription status — whether your subscription is active, which product it is, and when it expires.

How you use the app — which screens you reach, which steps of setup you finish, when you create or complete a habit, ask for a letter, or start a subscription, along with your device model, operating system version and app version. These are recorded as events against your account identifier, and they never include your letters, your vision, your check-in reflections, your name, or your email address.

Crash and error reports — when the app crashes or hits an error, we receive the error message, the technical stack trace showing which code failed, and the device and app version it happened on. This is how we find and fix faults. It does not include the contents of your letters or anything you have written.

If you email us, we have your address and whatever you put in the message. We use it to help you and nothing else.

What we do not do

No advertising, and no advertising software in the app.

No tracking across other companies’ apps or websites, no attribution software, and no access to the device advertising identifier. We never show you the App Tracking Transparency prompt because there is nothing to ask you for.

Our usage measurement never records what you write — not your letters, not your vision, not your reflections, not your check-in notes.

No session recording and no screen capture.

Your daily reminders are scheduled by your own device. The notifications we send are accountability check-ins, a reminder or two that your plan is waiting if you sign up without subscribing, and occasional offers only if you turn on Offers and news. Each can be switched off in Settings at any time.

No collection of your contacts, photos, or location.

We never receive your card number or billing address — Apple or Google handles payment.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

How your writing becomes a letter

To write a letter, we send our AI provider the parts needed to make it sound like you: your first name, the name and voice you chose for your future self, how far ahead they are writing from, and what you wrote about the life you are building.

Three of your setup answers go with it, because they say how you want to be written to rather than anything about your life: what your future self does easily, what helps when you fall off track, and what would make this work for you. They shape the manner of a letter and are never quoted back at you. None of your other setup answers are sent.

It also receives your practice, so the letter can speak to the month you have actually had rather than a general one: the names of your habits, whether each is due today and whether you have kept it, your current streak, and how many of the last thirty days you kept each one. A nudge receives your habit names and today’s progress for the same reason. The letter comes back and is stored in your account.

Check-in and reminder notifications are written the same way, from your first name, your future self, and how long it has been since you last kept a practice. A notification about an offer is a fixed message and is not written by AI.

This is the only circumstance in which what you write leaves our systems.

Your check-ins are part of it. When a letter is written, we send the mood and the reflection from your check-ins over the previous fourteen days; a nudge receives the last three. Long entries are shortened before they are sent. This is what lets a letter speak to the weeks you have actually been having instead of a general one, and the check-in screen says so at the point where you write. If you would rather your writing stayed between you and your own records, leave the reflection box empty — the mood alone still shapes the letter, and a check-in with no reflection sends no words of yours anywhere.

Our AI provider is Anthropic, which processes this on our behalf to generate the reply. Under its commercial terms, content sent through its API is not used to train its models.

Letters read aloud

If you tap Listen on a letter, we send the text of that letter to our voice provider, OpenAI, with the voice you chose (masculine or feminine) and the manner it should be read in. Nothing else is sent: not your answers, your habits or your check-ins.

If you have not chosen a voice, we use your answer to the sign-up question about who the app is for to pick one, and ask you if that answer does not settle it. You can change the voice at any time in Settings.

The recording is stored privately in your account so that listening again is instant, and is deleted with your account. Under OpenAI’s API terms, content sent to it is not used to train its models.

Who else processes your data

Supabase — hosts our database and handles sign-in. Your account and everything in it lives there.

Anthropic — generates the letters, receiving what is described above.

OpenAI — reads a letter aloud when you choose to listen to it, receiving only the text of that letter and the voice to read it in.

RevenueCat — manages subscription status and tells our servers whether yours is active. It receives your account identifier and the purchase details Apple issues.

PostHog — receives the usage events and crash reports described above, tied to your account identifier, so we can see where people get stuck and fix what breaks. It receives nothing you write.

Expo, Apple and Google — deliver push notifications to your device. They receive your device’s push token and the text of the notification.

Apple and Google — handle sign-in if you use them, and payment for subscriptions bought through the App Store or Google Play.

Each acts on our instructions to run the app, and none is permitted to use your data for its own purposes.

Sign in with Apple and private email

If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive only Apple’s private relay address. Everything works the same and we never see your real address.

Apple discloses your name only on the very first sign-in. If you decline it, we use whatever name you type in the app.

Why we are allowed to use it

To perform our contract with you — storing and processing your content so the app works, generating the letters you asked for, and managing your subscription.

Our legitimate interests — keeping the service secure, preventing abuse of our AI provider, and keeping the app reliable.

Your consent — where we ask for it, such as notifications and offers. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings or in your device settings.

We do not use your data to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Deleting your data

Open the Progress tab, tap the settings icon, then "Delete my account and data". Deletion is immediate.

It removes your profile, your future self, your onboarding answers and signature, your habits and their history, your check-ins, every letter written to you, the recording of any letter you listened to, your notification settings, and the record of notifications sent to you. It is permanent, and we cannot recover it.

Because Apple or Google bills your subscription, deleting your account does not cancel it. On iPhone, cancel in Settings under your Apple ID → Subscriptions; on Android, in the Google Play Store under Payments & subscriptions. Otherwise you will keep being charged.

You can also email contact@meetfutureself.ai and we will delete your account for you within 30 days.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, or to restrict or object to how we use it. Email contact@meetfutureself.ai and we will respond within 30 days.

If you live in California, the CCPA gives you the right to know what we collect and why, to delete it, to correct it, and not to be discriminated against for asking. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined there, so there is nothing for you to opt out of.

If you live in the UK or the European Economic Area, you also have the right to data portability and to complain to your data protection authority. We would rather you gave us the chance to put it right first.

How long we keep it

Your account and its contents are kept while your account exists, so that your history and streaks stay intact, and are deleted when you delete your account.

Requests to our AI provider pass through and are not retained by us beyond the letter itself, which is stored in your account. The same is true of a letter read aloud: only the recording is kept, in your account.

Records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons — and transaction records held by Apple or Google — remain under those obligations and policies.

Where your data is held

Your data is stored on servers in the United States, and our AI and voice providers process it there. If you are outside the United States, using Future Self involves transferring your data there.

Where personal data moves out of the UK or European Economic Area, we rely on safeguards recognised under those laws, such as the standard contractual clauses.

Security

Traffic between the app, our servers, and our providers is encrypted in transit using TLS, and data is encrypted at rest by our hosting provider.

Your account is isolated at the database level, so one account cannot read another’s data, and the entitlement that unlocks the app can only be written by our servers.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.

Children

Future Self is not directed at anyone under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us information, contact contact@meetfutureself.ai and we will delete it.

If you are under the age of majority where you live, read this policy with a parent or guardian.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy materially, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect and update the date at the top. Continuing to use Future Self after that means the updated policy applies.
